Whimsical New Year’s Resolutions

Whimsical New Year's Resolutions

New Year’s Resolutions that are fun, unusual, and atypical, maybe even a bit bizarre, are a fun way to start off the New Year and treat yourself for doing things that you love to do or are easy enough to do that you know you will succeed. When I make a whimsical resolution, I start off my New Year’s calendar with a bag of stickers and each time I do one of my New Year’s resolutions, I give myself a sticker. One year was to go to Disneyland more this year than the last year (and I did it). The next year was to prepare for a weeklong bike ride. I did not make my weeklong bike ride, but I did do 2 century rides and I clocked in many hours and miles on my bike. Life is fun.
You see, success begets success, so if you set up a resolution you cannot fail at, then you know you will be succeeding and that feeling of success will start to permeate the rest of your life, your attitude, your perspective, your disposition, and your thoughts. Once you get the positivity going, it cannot be stopped.
This year I have two whimsical resolutions. One is to do at least one Lucky Penny Walk a week and the other is to eat chocolate at least once a week. Now these are not the typical resolutions, but I do feel that they will help me stay focused on the positive and knowing what is important to me. I find that I love chocolate and nothing helps my diet more than to schedule in some chocolate time....uuummm. And a Lucky Penny Walk, well, that is explained in another post. But I figure if I do one Lucky Penny walk a week, then 520 people will have a lucky day on me...and that makes me feel good. Who knows, maybe some weeks I will do more than one lucky penny walk.

What Whimsical Resolution can you make to ensure that your New Year starts off great and you are reinforcing the positives in your life?

McCormick Foundation Grant-1

Grant Application

I have decided to apply for the McCormick Foundation New Media Women Entrepreneurs Grant for Entrepreneurs. The Application is AWESOME because it encourages you to focus and have clarity in your life about what it is that you want to accomplish and how you are going to move your business forward. For me, the questions are spot on and the character limits, mean I have to think very carefully about what I want to write and be succinct. If you are looking for funds for a particular project, even if you do not think you are a good match for Fredrickson Grant, then fill out the application fields. This will help you gain clarity about what you want to accomplish, how you want to accomplish it, and why you are the best person for the job. The application is due on January 27, 2011. I am planning on posting my responses to the 10 questions, one a day for the next ten days. I will welcome any feedback or ideas you’d like to offer. If you want to join me on this journey, please feel share your journey. I am very excited about this. Soon, I will be looking for Latina artists, graphic designers, web-developers, and ebook developers to help me get LAUNCHED...may the journey begin.

Lucky Penny Walk

Lucky Penny Walk

Want to add some positivity to your walk? Take a Lucky Penny Walk. Each day at lunch time I walk along the water front at Shoreline Village in Long Beach and once a week, I take a Lucky Penny walk. I walk with 10 pennies in my pocket and I drop them along way with a Lucky Penny Prayer: “I love you, Please Forgive Me, I’m Sorry, and Thank You...here’s to making someone very lucky today.” And I throw the penny on the side of the walkway where someone will find it. This combines Ho’noopono and the karma of good luck in one. I imagine that anyone who happens by my lucky penny will pick it up and say to themselves, “I’m having a lucky day.” “My luck has just changed” “Good luck is about to come my way.” Or “Oh, look, I found a lucky penny.”
This encounter with my lucky penny will put a smile on their face, a bounce in their step, and the chain reaction will be far-reaching.
It is like the Felix Felices from Harry Potter. You just have to believe that it is your lucky day, and it will be.
If  you decide to take a lucky penny walk and make someone’s day today, come back here and let me know...and you know what, the added bonus is that it is your secret that puts a bounce in your step and a smile on your face as well.

Life Choices and Created Options

Happy New Year… What Options are you creating this year?

Life is not about the choices you make, but the options you create.
If you have lousy options, you will make lousy choices…
If you have good options, you will make good choices…
Are you creating options?
For example, if you have cultivated 3 or 4 business proposals, then you can choose the best one. If you have only cultivated one and it is not very good, then you are stuck.
The same holds true for all of your relationships. The more relationships you cultivate the less you will feel like you have to choose between a rock and a hard place. You will be able to choose the ones that work for you and you will be saying…”Wow, I can’t go wrong with choices like these.” Abundance comes when we are present, in the moment, and taking action.
Buena suerte with all your options,

Children Learn What They Live

As I reflect on the New Year and plan my goals and whimsical resolutions, I have decided to share some of my inspirations. Here is another one.

Children Learn What They Live
By Dorothy Law Nolte, Ph.D.

If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility, they learn to fight.
If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive.
If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves.
If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel shy.
If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy.
If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty.
If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence.
If children live with tolerance, they learn patience.
If children live with praise, they learn appreciation.
If children live with acceptance, they learn to love.
If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves.
If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal.
If children live with sharing, they learn generosity.
If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness.
If children live with fairness, they learn justice.
If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect.
If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them.
If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.

The Paradoxical Commandments

If you have not seen or are not aware of the Paradoxical commandments, these are awesome for reflecting and reminding us of what is important as we choose our actions and responses.

The Paradoxical Commandments
by Dr. Kent M. Keith

People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.
